This is my first fanfic, so please be kind! I just couldn't stop thinking about it and I had to write it down...

Master of the Possimpible

As soon as Barney heard Robin say that she might be sent back to Canada, he knew he would do anything is his power to keep her there. He started brainstorming through his list of high-up people who owed him. He had barely made it past the C’s of his mental rolodex (How much would it cost to bribe Canada directly to let him keep her? Did Condy still have that kind of power?) before Marshall was suggesting marriage. He was on his knee before he could really think about it. Heck, he even had a very classy (yet very fake) engagement ring in his pocket for picking up commitment crazed chicks. Robin wouldn’t care if he had to switch it out later for a real one, not that he would tell her why. And then Marshall ruled that out too.

---
Barney knew Robin was too good for this Amazon warrior costume, but he played along with making her a video resume to match his awesome one. Secretly he’d been compiling an extremely professional resume with all of the segments he had saved on his DVR. He would show Robin the “awesome” video while sending out the one showing her true skills (after all, she really didn’t need any creative editing to make companies want her). So what if he had to spend a little extra time with her in the meantime? It wouldn’t kill her to spend a couple of hours having Barney crack her up. She needed to de-stress a little, he knew. He’d seen the worry in her eyes when she’d thought he wasn’t looking. And who knew, maybe she would be as turned on by the warrior costume as he was…

---
He’d taken two days off of work to finish her video and field all of the offers she was getting. There had been a couple of offers to start her off as a field agent doing the fluff pieces, but he knew she couldn’t go back to that. So he waited for the call, the one that would get her the job she deserved. He had kicked himself after Channel 8 had turned her down because of his negotiating strategy, but he never doubted there would be another. Who could watch that woman for ten minutes and not want to spend all of their time around her? When the call came for the morning show, he knew it was perfect. As soon as he was off the phone, he ran almost two blocks towards Ted’s before remembering that he could just catch a cab. Wouldn’t do to be all sweaty when he got there anyway.

---
When he walked in, it almost killed him not to tell her immediately. He hated the pain she was in, but he knew it would be gone soon. Because of him. When he finished his story and he saw her face light up, it was worth everything he had gone through. He hugged her lightly the first time because he knew she would want to celebrate with Ted and Marshall and Lily too. He was mildly surprised when she came right back to him. He couldn’t help but fall in love just a little bit more as she seemed to struggle to understand him. When she hugged him, he couldn’t help but touch her hair. He was in his own world, not thinking about what the others would think of him (they all knew anyway) or even what Robin would. He ached for her to figure it out. To question why this hug was so intimate, why he had looked at her like that, why he was holding on to her like she was the only thing worth keeping. But as she slipped away to talk to Lily, he knew it was enough just to keep her in his life.
